Sister Gildarda was the fifth (and only girl) child of Peter J. and Anne Elizabeth (Kilroy) McHugh. Her given name was Ellen McHugh. Sister was a Franciscan nun. She taught Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma and was Mother Superior of Reybold Home for boys in Delaware City, Delaware. Sister Gildarda was a wonderful, charitable and holy person. She is buried in the Sisters of Saint Francis plot in Cathedral Cemetery.
