Pansy Brown Allen, a lifelong resident of Hammond, LA, died May 27, 2023, at the age of 95 years old. Mrs. Allen, along with her late husband and son, was in the wholesale candy business for many years as a co-owner of J.P. Allen Candy Company, Inc. in Hammond. After her retirement from the candy business, she was a familiar face for many years working in retail sales at the J.C. Penny store in Hammond. She loved those years in the old Hammond Square Mall because she loved seeing and serving her friends and customers.

Indeed, service and caring for others characterized Mrs. Allen's life. She was an active, charter member of Woodland Park Baptist Church in Hammond, LA, where she attended worship and participated in the ministries of the church during her entire adult life. She was especially involved in her Sunday school class and in the food ministry of the church, helping to provide meals to church families during their times of need.

Mrs. Allen was also an active member of the Fern Leaf Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Hammond for many years, serving twice as the Worthy Matron of the local chapter. Just as she was an active and devoted member of her church, she was equally committed to and enjoyed her service to others through Eastern Star.

Surviving Mrs. Allen is a daughter-in-law, Marylee Loupe Allen of Hammond, LA, and a granddaughter, Whitney Allen Yohe and her husband, Sean Yohe, of Ogden, UT. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Isla Jane Yohe, Stella Mae Yohe, and Finan Sean Yohe. Also surviving Mrs. Allen is a nephew, G. Wayne Allen and his wife, Jennifer, all of Hammond, LA. Special thanks to Linda Rose and Diane McCain for all their help caring for Mrs. Allen over the years.

Preceding Mrs. Allen in death were her father, Arnold Brown and her mother, Rosie Mae Needham Brown. Also preceding her in death was her loving husband of 25 years, James Pierson Allen, Sr. who died in 1972, and her beloved son, James Pierson Allen, Jr. who died in 2010.

Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 9 am until 11 am in the sanctuary of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be conducted by the Fern Leaf Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star at 10:30 am and will be followed by the funeral service at 11 am. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Hammond, LA. The service will be conducted by Rev. Randy Ray.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodland Park Baptist Church, 1909 J.W. Davis Drive, Hammond, LA 70403.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Inc. i
