Funeral services for Raymond Abercrombie, age 81, of Abanda will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 12:00 noon at Abanda Baptist Church with Bro. Clinton Branch and Bro. Bryan yates officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Union Hill in Chambers County with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at Abanda Baptist Church from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

Mr. Abercrombie passed away Friday, May 19, 2023, at his residence.

Survivors include: daughter-in-law and caretaker, Connie Turner of Abanda; four grandchildren, Chrystal Myers (Bryan), Christopher Shatley (Kayla), Tiffany Gaspard, and Faith Johnson (Daniel); 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; five nephews, Joe Abercrombie of Dadeville and Billy Abercrombie of Titus, Thomas Lacy of Five Points, David Lacy of Valley, and Jeremy "Bubba" Abercrombie of Milton, FL; four great-nieces and nephews, Abigayle Abercrombie, Paige Jenkins, Steven McKinley Abercrombie, and Rachel Hope Abercrombie; one sister, Floria Abrams (Kenneth) of Valley; sister-in-law, Jean Abercrombie of Dadeville; and longtime friend, Vivian Kirk.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Coker, Adam Coker, Randy McGill, Jou Padilla, Scott Green, and Steve Matherne. McKinley Abercrombie will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

A Chambers County native, Mr. Abercrombie was born on December 22, 1941, the son of McKinley and Hazel Cole Abercrombie. He was a member of Abanda Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Abercrombie retired from the Army National Guard after 33 ½ years of service. He retired as a millwright and master electrician from Southwire. Mr. Abercrombie was a Mason and Shriner. He was a member of the Scottish Rites and was also a Roadrunner for the Shriners in which he made numerous trips transporting children to different Scottish Rites Hospitals for treatment. Mr. Abercrombie was extremely competitive and failure was not an option. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rhodia "Irean" Craven Abercrombie; son, James Turner; identical twin, Ray Abercrombie; two brothers, William Abercrombie and Billy Joe Abercrombie; grandson, Gabriel Turner (197499240); and a nephew, Johnny Abercrombie.
