John S. "Scotty" Anderson, age 78, of West, passed away late Saturday morning, May 13, 2023 Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.

Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Deacon Ronnie Sykora officiating.

Scotty was born February 2, 1945 in Waco, the son of the late Clyde and Pearl (Wortham) Anderson. He was a 1963 graduate of Connally High School. On July 23, 1966 he was united in marriage to Roberta Urbanovsky in Abbott. Scotty proudly served in the Army National Guard of Texas from 1965-1971. He worked for MKT Railroad in Waco for 17 years until his retirement in 1989. Scotty also worked for A. O. Smith Bomb Plant and Purvis Bearing in Waco and was a volunteer fireman in Lacy Lakeview. He enjoyed riding around on his golf cart, going to all the grandchildren's baseball games, coaching softball games for his daughters, playing taroky, talking on the phone, harassing the city workers, enjoying his coffee, trains and antique cars, visiting the group at Czech American, and was avid fan of the Rangers, Astros and Dallas Cowboys. Scotty loved spending time with his family, especially teasing his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Roberta Anderson of West; his children, Kimberly and Brian McMorrough and Kelly Anderson, both of West, John Paul and Karen Anderson of Waco, and Krista and Michael Lewis of Louisburg, Kansas; his brothers, Tommy and JoAnn Anderson, Jerry and Barbara Anderson; a sister, Dolly and Jim Scott; grandchildren, Ashlin Standerfer, Tyler and Nastassia Keel, Tracer McClinton and Wendy Nemmer, Chase and Courtney Anderson, Bailey Anderson and Josh Brown, Braxton and Amorie Anderson, Avery Anderson, Mariah Anderson, Christian McMorrough, and Kendall McMorrough; great grandchildren, Owen, Olivia, Brennon, Brody, Cullen, Callyn and due to arrive in August, Kody Lee; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Per family wishes, his body has been donated to UT Southwestern Medical Center to help with the advancement of medical science research.
