He says he enlisted June 10, 1861 and served with Company I of the 9th GA regt. Andersons, Brigade. He was wounded in the mouth and head, knocking out some of his teeth and leaving part of the minnie ball in his head.

Solomon Akins was the son of Lewis Akins & his wife, Mary Stanford (1850 Bulloch Co., GA Census, page 244; household 125; family 128). Both the 1850 & the 1880 Census show that Lewis Akins was born in South Carolina.
Solomon Akins married Miss Lavenia Olliff of Bulloch Co., GA on July 31, 1864 by Matthew Donaldson, Minister of the Gospel.
Lavenia Olliff was the daughter of Matthew Olliff & his wife, Elizabeth Brannen.
