Elijah Akins enlisted in Capt. McAllister's Hardwick Mtd. Rifles on September 23, 1863 in Bryan County, Ga. and when the unit split to make 2 companies, he went to Co. B. Then on February 13, 1864 was transferred to Co. H, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry when it was formed. Elijah died September 25, 1890 and is buried at Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Bulloch County, Ga.

My understanding is that there was another son

and was married to UnKnown Switchier

Solomon Elijah Akins, DOB May 1864-DOD 29 Dec 1928, in Merchantville, NJ. He married (1) Rachel V. Richardson, 01 Jun 1864-15 Oct 1890, Bulloch County and had 2 children: Haywood L. 21 Nov 1886-28 Jul 1888; Cora V. 09 Nov 1888-09 Sep 1892. Mother and children are buried in the Lanes Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, near Stilson, Bulloch County, GA. He married (2) Bertha Switzler. They had one daughter, Elizabeth that married George Stearns. Solomon Elijah lived at 101 E. Chestnut Ave, Merchantville, NJ. He is buried in the West Laurel Hill Cemetery. His DOB is incorrect on his death certificate as listed Sept 3, 1869 instead of 1864.
