Vera L. Hollis, 87, of Wyoming, formerly of rural Princeville, died at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. Born Jan. 31, 1909, near Brimfield to Edgar and Ada Camp Burgess, she married Duane William Hollis on Sept. 15, 1928, in Bloomington. He died Oct. 11, 1979, in Peoria. One daughter, Joan Marie Hollis, one brother and two great-grandsons also preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Francis of Princeville, Gary of London Mills and Edward of North Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Dorothy) Streitmatter and Audrey Grigg, both of Wyoming; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She and her husband farmed in the Princeville and Duncan areas for many years until retiring.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home in Princeville. The Rev. Prosper O. Tournear will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.
