HENRY J. CHEESMAN DIES IN TEXAS AT 82

Henry J. Cheesman, for more than 50 years one of Princeville's leading citizens and business, passed away at Saturday night in Ft. Worth, Texas, where he had gone two weeks before to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. May Morris, and family. His death followed two strokes of paralysis, suffered last week.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church here this afternoon, conducted by Rev. Lee H. Smith. Interment was in the Princeville cemetery.
Mr. Cheesman, who was 82 years of age last May 9, was associated with the Cheesman Brothers store here for more than 50 years, having sold the business to Earl R. Hibbs Aug. 12 last year. With the sale of the store Mr. Cheesman ended a business career that started 55 years ago when the store was started by his brother, the late C. J. Cheesman. H. J. Cheesman joined his brother three after establishment of the business and was continuously in business in Princeville from that time until last summer C. J. Cheesman passed away seven years ago and his son, Carl, died three years ago. After Carl's death H. J. Cheesman was sole operator of the business.
Henry was one of this community's most beloved citizens, public spirited and progressive. A Christian gentleman, he has been active in Masonic circles for many years. Last May he was honored at a banquet celebrating his 82nd birthday and the 50th anniversary of his membership in the Eastern Star. He was also a charter member of the Princeville Civic Association and was an official in the Presbyterian church. Before he left for Texas he was presented with a gold watch by the Princeville Civic Association in recognition of his many years of service to the community.
Mr. Cheesman is survived by a sister, Mrs. Minnie Price of Princeton, Ill., and a number of nephews and nieces.
