Marie was better known as "Ma" to so many and for the countless afghans she made as gifts. Ma got the answer to her prayers and joined her daughter, Pam; son, Craig and granddaughter, Diedra. Ma was a graduate of Fort Sanders School of Nursing and retired from East Tennessee Children's Hospital after 35 years practicing as a Registered Nurse.
Marie is survived by daughters, Karen (Jeff) McFarland, Donna (Buddy) Hutsell; son, Kevin Leatherwood; grandchildren: Keith (Amanda) McFarland, Mark (Emily) McFarland, Jana (Rob) Clevenger, Gracie Floyd, Emarie Leatherwood, Jonathan Leatherwood; great-grandchildren: Ethan, David, Morgan, Payton, T.J., Ian, Russell, River, Emmaline, Gracie, Chase, Mackenzie, Joshua; special niece and her family, Janice (Gary) Washam; brother-in-law, Norman Wallace, whom she was worried would die before her and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Gibbs Class of 1955, the 2nd Thursday Lunch Crew, Geneva Hospice and Dr. John Blake for making Ma's final days the best for her.
A Visitation will be held Monday May 15, 2023 between the hours of 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the parlors of McCarty Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Hwy, Knoxville. A private graveside will be held at Huckleberry Springs Cemetery, 2092 Huckleberry Springs Road, Knoxville.
