Moses Cahn, 77 years old, former merchant of this city, passed away yesterday morning at his home, 2118 north New Jersey Street, Indianapolis. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the home. Burial was made in the Indiana Hebrew Congregational cemetery.
Mr. Cahn, for many years, was Proprietor of the Eagle Clothing store in this city, but left here more than 20 years ago and located in Indianapolis where he engaged in the clothing business. Mr. Cahn came here about 1880 from Jonesville. Previously he had travelled from place to place over the country with a pack on his back, selling merchandise as was the custom in the earlier days.
He and A. Strauss were in a partnership here for a time and Joseph V. Hilger, of the White House, was employed by them as a clerk when their dry goods and clothing store was located where the Stilwell drug store now is situated. Afterwards the store was moved to the business room where the Bruning Store now is, and some time later the Eagle store was purchased. Mr. Cahn bought out his partner and continued in business here for some time afterwards.
