Vannie 1st married at the age of 14 to Charles A Ragland probably in Oklahoma.
Her first son, Arthur Frank Ragland was born 14 June 1904 in Ardmore Oklahoma. Vannie had lost two children by 1912 when she had another son, Vernon Lewis Ragland 9 Oct 1912 in California. Charles A Ragland died between 1912-1920. Vannie was in Childress Texas in 1920 and a widow with 2 sons, Frank and Vernon Ragland.

Services held at Utter-McKinley Broadway Chapel, Los Angeles, California January 21, 3:00 p.m. Music by Utter-McKinley Artists, Officiant Rev. Claude F. Moffitt. Interment Inglewood Park Cemetery. Sanders, son, Vernon Lewis Ragland, sister, Eva Dell Johnson Clark with her husband Jack Clark and children, nephews, nieces, several other relatives, and many friends.
