MRS. VELMA TURNER
SEDAN - Velma Mae Turner, 67, of Sedan, Kan. passed away on Friday, Aug. 29, 2003 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kan. She was born Aug. 7, 1924 at Shay, Okla. to the late Noel and Eva (Sexton) Peters. Velma was raised and lived most of her life in the Shay, Powell and Kingston communities in Oklahoma before moving to Sedan in 1991, where she lived the remainder of her life. She married Milton Turner on June 30, 1939 in Madill, Okla. and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1977.
Velma was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Madill, Okla.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Beasley of Kingston, Okla., Wanda Faler of Sedan, Kan. and Kay Clark of Sedan, Kan.; one brother, Bill Peters of Seminole, Okla.; three sisters, Faye Wolfe of Dumas, Texas, Dollie Lollis of Shay, Okla. and Joyce Ann Forguson of Willis, Okla.; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother.
Services will be Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003 at 2p.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla., with B. J. Beal officiating. Interment will be in the Powell Cemetery at Powell, Okla. under the direction of the Watts Funeral Home of Madill, Okla.
Casket Bearers were Tim Clark, Michael Breeding, Dustin Beasley, Larry Jordan, David Stanton, Terry Stanton, and Jeremy Wilson.
Watts Funeral Home of Madill, Okla. was in charge of arrangements. David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Sedan assisted with local arrangements.
