Carolyn Banning, 67, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at her home in Dodge City.
She was born October 7, 1955 in Garden City, the daughter of Albert and Rose Mary (Butler) Bayer. She was a graduate of Garden City High School and Washburn University in Topeka. She was a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner and moved to Dodge City in 1980 where she was a founding member of Smoll and Banning CPA's LLC.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Business and Professional Women and Soroptimist all in Dodge City as well as a board member of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas.
On September 17, 1983 she married Justin Banning in Garden City. He survives.
Other survivors include: her daughter, Rachelle Banning and partner Nick Banks, Dodge City; 4 grandchildren, Gage, Teyen, Ahriana and Willow Banks; her brother, Paul Bayer and wife Kim, Garden City; and 2 sisters, Joyce Briggs and husband Rick, Ulysses and Melissa Klaus, Garden City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and bonus mother, Esther (Jacobs) Bayer.
