His most famous book he wrote was "The Amityville Horror." It was the account of George Lutz, his wife Kathleen, the three step-children, and their dog Harry in the infamous haunted house in Amityville, New York.

"The Amityville Horror" has been made into a film in 1979 the spawned sequels in the 1980's and the 1990's. The remake of "The Amityville Horror" came out in 2005.

Jay Anson died a year after the original film went out into theaters.
