Harriet Evone Crain Thedford, 72 of Woodville, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 in the presence of her family after a battle with colon cancer.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial to follow in Gore Cemetery in Silsbee. Officiating will be Brother Clifford Crain and Brother Larry Trest. Serving as pallbearers will be Dakota Thedford, Christopher Thedford, Kaleb Lindsey, Donnie O'Quinn, Jay Thedford, Ted Parker and James Gregory.

Harriet was born November 14,1949, to Bert Crain and Ettie Gore Crain. She graduated from Silsbee High School in 1968. On March 1, 1969, she married the love of her life, Ed. After 8 years of marriage, Harriet and Ed were blessed with the arrival of their only child, Bert. Throughout her life, Harriet has held various jobs and was a devoted, hard worker. Harriet began her dream of becoming a teacher as she served as a paraprofessional at Woodville Middle School while taking night classes. Harriet obtained her teaching degree from Lamar University in December of 1999. Harriet enjoyed her time teaching and touching the lives of many children as the 6th grade reading teacher at Woodville Middle School until she retired in 2013.

Harriet's favorite pastime was visiting with her family and friends, cruising with her brother David and nephew Donnie and his wife Sharon, coloring with her great-granddaughter Brynlee and rocking her sweet baby, Ruth. Harriet was very excited to learn that her granddaughter Bayleigh was expecting and she would be blessed with her 3rd great-grandchild this fall.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Ettie Crain, brothers R. Lee O'Quinn, David O'Quinn, and William "Bubba" Crain, as well as her sister, Becky Evans, and loving husband of over 40 years Edwin Thedford.

She is survived by her son, Bert Thedford and wife Bridgett of Woodville; sister, Mary Ralph and husband Bud of Jasper; brother-in-law, Walter Thedford and wife Robin of San Antonio; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Owens of Boerne and Patricia Snead of Georgetown, Delaware; grandchildren, Dakota Thedford and wife Anna, Christopher Thedford and wife Gabi, Bayleigh Lindsey and husband Kaleb; great grandchildren, Brynlee Thedford and Ruth Sloane Thedford; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank Linda Bostick and Lesha Gary for their undying friendship to Harriet, the retired teachers of Woodville Middle School, Shannon Shields for being such a great friend and provider as well as Kelsey Rawls and Olive Branch Hospice for the excellent care they provided her with the past week.
