Ann was born in Halifax, England, to Maurice and Annie Mitchell. She studied nursing and midwifery at Scarborough Hospital School of Nursing and while working as a nurse, met and married Marvin Anderl. After they moved to Dallas, TX, to start a family, she took some time off from her nursing job at Parkland Hospital to raise her two boys. The family moved to Richmond, VA, and she went back to work at the Cardiac Center at Johnston-Willis Hospital and at a private practice before retiring in 2008.
During her career, she received a Best Theatre Nurse award, became a Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Cardiopulmonary Technologist, and earned a post-graduate certificate from The Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Marvin, and her sister, Muriel Thompson.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard Anderl of Dallas, TX, and David Anderl and wife Kristen of Richmond, VA, brother-in-law Robert Anderl and wife Louise of Tulsa, OK, longtime friend Nancy Hebert, and other extended family.
A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, at Bliley's Funeral home at 6900 Hull Street Road from 2-4pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ann's life.
