Edward Chandler Ames passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023, at the age of 89. He was born April 27, 1934, in Millsap, Texas to Amos Charles Ames and Artie Jewel (Langley) Ames. Edward proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military career, he worked in the aviation industry as an electronic engineer. After retiring, Edward spent hours tinkering on the treasures he found while collecting junk, and he was happiest being outdoors farming and doing repair work. He was known as a jack of all trades. Edward had a good eye for photography and loved capturing the beauty around him. Most importantly, he will be remembered as a kind and loving man who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel Ann Ames of Weatherford, Texas; son, Craig Ames; daughter, Carol M. Sessum and her husband, Lynn; granddaughter, Kayla Baxter; granddaughter, Kenzie Dewynter and her husband, Craig; grandson, Brice Baxter and his wife, Victoria; granddaughter, Teegan Gilley and her husband, Lane; grandson, Dakoda May; nine great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Ames; and brother, Jerry Ames.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2023, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm St, Weatherford, Texas, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Community Cemetery, with Craig Dewynter, Lynn Sessum, Lane Gilley, Kenden Dewynter, Kaeveon Hogan, Kaesen Hogan, and Macen Baxter serving as pallbearers, and Brice Baxter as honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Scottish Rite for Children's Hospital.
