JOHN HENRY COLE, PIONEER RESIDENT OF COUNTY, TAKEN
Long Illness Proves Fatal in Appanoose Farmer; Funeral Services at Concord Sunday
John Henry Cole, 83, resident of Appanoose County for almost 3/4 quarters of a century, died of illness at his home near Plano at 9:30 p.m. last night. Mr. Cole had been in failing health for some time and last summer his ailment was serious enough to make hospital treatment in Centerville necessary.
Born in Indiana, Mr. Cole moved to this county with his parents when he was 10 years of age. With the exception of about six months spent in Kansas, he spent the remaining years of his life in Appanoose County. For almost 50 years he had lived on the same farm, 4 1/2 miles northwest of Plano, and had made farming his occupation all his life.
In death he is survived by his aged widow and four children, Mrs. Charles Fenton, of Brushy, Elmer E., James W. and Dempsey D. all of the same vicinity northwest of Plano.
Funeral services will be held at the Concord Church Sunday afternoon 2:00 p.m.
