Laura Alice Cole, daughter of Jeptha and Margaret Martha (Curtis) Standley, was born near Brushy in Appanoose Co., Iowa, Jan. 6th, 1861, and passed away at the family home near Plano, May 9th, 1941, at the age of 80 years, 4 mos. 3 days. She lived practically all her life in Appanoose and Wayne counties.
She was united in marriage to John Henry Cole Jan. 12th, 1878. To this union four children were born, Alice May Fenton, Elmer E., James W. and Dempsey D., all of Plano, Iowa. There is also two granddaughters, three grandsons and five great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. She has one brother, Alec Standley, living at Orange, Calif., and three sisters, Mrs. John Bowers of Courtland, Kans., Mrs. Tom Haney of Topeka, Kans., and Mrs. Addie Haney of Kansas City. Two sisters, Mrs. John Chadd and Mrs. Al Smith, have preceded her in death.
Funeral services in charge of Geo. Swan, Sr., were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, May 11th, at the Concord church. She was laid to rest in Concord cemetery beside her husband who passed away a little over one year ago.
