Dean Thompson, 72, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 2, 2007, in a local hospital.

He was a lifelong resident of Bradley County and was the son of the late Mildred Virginia Buckner Thompson and Elmer Frazier Thompson. He was preceded in death by his sons: Robbie Dean Thompson and Sammy Dewitt Thompson; grandson, Samuel Drew Thompson; brother-in-law, Thomas Givens; sister-in-law , Irene Myers; his nephews, Anthony Burger and J.R. Hulett; and niece, Melissa Wright.

He was well known for his singing. He and his twin sister, Jean Thompson Burger performed regularly on the Rev. Littlefield's "Sunshine Hour". He and his brother Homer, sister Jean Burger, his brother-in-law Richard Burger and sister Naomi Sexton formed the "Friendly Four Quartet" and together created the Pinnacle Recording Label in the early sixties. They were featured singers on WBAC radio in Cleveland.

He was a barber with the Acme Barber Shop in the 1960's and he along with his son, Scott Thompson, also started Thompson Paving, which later became Bradley Asphalt and Paving, from 1979 to the present time. He also held Insurance and Investment licenses with A.L. Williams Co.

He was a member of Samples Memorial Baptist Church.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend
