GREENVILLE ADVOCATE - 15JAN1931 - FUNERAL SERVICES FOR J. J. CALL ARE HELD WEDNESDAY
Funeral services were conducted for James J. Call, who died at his home east of Mulberry Grove, at 1:45 a.m., Monday, an account of whose death was noted in The Advocate that day, were held at the Call residence at 11 a.m., Wednesday, the Rev. Kapp & the Rev. Gammon officiating. Interment was made in McInturff cemetery.
James Joseph Call was born in Davis Co., NC, on 19Jan1850, & was aged 80 years, 11 months & 24 days.
In 1871 he was married to Nancy Foster who died in 1875 leaving 1 daughter, Lydia, who lived with her father until the end. The 2 came to IL in the year of 1876.
His second marriage was to Dora Spradling who survives him. Last September they passed their 53rd wedding anniversary. To this union were born 3 daughters, Mrs. N. A. Hodson of Fayette Co., IL; & Mrs. I. H. Dearth of Eden, WY; who survive him & Dianna who died in infancy.
Mr. Call had 2 brothers, John of Mulberry Grove & Daniel who died in 1897 & 4 sisters, Mary, Rebecca, Louise & Alice, who have all preceded him in death. Five grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren survive.
"Uncle Joe," as he was known to so many people, was converted & united with the M. E. church many years ago. He had changed locations several times & had his membership transferred but for the last 10 years had resided on his farm east of Mulberry Grove, IL with his membership in the M. E. church of that place. He had great faith in God & during his last illness often expressed a desire to "go to sleep & not awaken until he crossed over to the other side."
Mr. Call had been in unusually good health in the early fall but failed about 2 months ago & grew gradually worse, only being confined to his bed about 10 days.

VANDALIA UNION - 15JAN1931 - JOSEPH CALL, AGED 84, DIES IN BEAR GROVE
Joseph Call, aged & well-known citizen of Bear Grove Twp, died at his home west of Hagarstown Monday morning, 12Jan.
James Joseph Call was born in Davis Co., NC, 19Jan1850, the son of James & Rebecca Call.
Mr. Call had been in unusually good health in the early fal but failed about 2 months ago & gradually passed away, being confined to his bed only about 10 days.
In 1871 he was married to Nancy Foster who departed this life in 1875, leaving 1 daughter, Lydia, who lved with her father to the end. The 2 came to IL in the year of 1876.
His 2nd marriage was to Dora Spradling who survives him. Last September they passed their 53rd weddning anniversary. To this union were born 3 daughters, Mrs. N. A. Hodson, of Fayette Co. & Mrs. I. H. Dearth of Eden, WY; who survive him & Dianna who died in infancy.
