Daughter of Samuel Orme and Amy Kirby

Married Alfred Gilham Lee, 9 Mar 1857, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah

Children - James Alma Lee, Carolina Orme Lee, Alfred Orme Lee, William Orme Lee

History - Rebecca was the sixth child born to Samuel Orme and Amy Kirby. She had two more little sisters who died on the same day, the 9th of April 1846.

Her father died the 10th of February 1842, in Coalville, England. In 1844 the family heard the gospel and Rebecca was baptized with her brother, Samuel Washington Orme, and her sisters, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Eliza, her sister, married Michael Holden, and with a sister, Caroline, started for Zion. Eliza died of cholera in Groves, Missouri, leaving a child. Rebecca's sister, Amy, died in England in the year of 1853. Rebecca, with her brother Samuel Washington, her sister Sarah Ann, and mother, started for Zion.

They crossed the Atlantic Ocean on the ship Horizon and landed in Boston. Then by rail they crossed to Iowa City where the Martin Handcart Company had to wait for carts to be made.

They survived the terrible ordeals of being frozen in an early snow crossing Wyoming. Help came to the stranded company, and they arrived in the Salt Lake Valley, November 30, 1856.

The Orme family settled in Tooele, Utah.
