From the Vashon Beachcomber:

Valma Jane Hockley, (known to her friends as "Jane"), 76, of Vashon Island, died on April 4th, 2023. She was born on February 25, 1947, to Thora and James Belveal.

Jane, the most loving and devoted wife and mother, is survived by sone George Jr. and daughter Grace.

Jane was a proud Vashonian. Jane married George Hockley Sr. in 1966 and the happy couple settled on Vashon Island to raise a family, enjoying the loving support of George Sr.'s parents, Mildred and Oliver Hockley, and sister Rosemary Hockley Krug.

Jane enjoyed a lively career as a real estate broker on Vashon, and in her spare time spent countless hours combing the island's beaches for agates, or reading her favorite authors. After moving to California in the early 80's, Jane's interest in books eventually led to her owning a bookstore in Vallejo, California, where her husband worked at the Naval Shipyard.

In 1999, Jane and George returned to Vashon as a happy retired couple. George Sr. preceded Jane to heaven in February, 2003. Jane's family is comforted to know that Jane and George Hockley are together again in death as they had been in life, a rare matched set.
