Abner Aber, Sr. married 28 March 1782 Charity Loree. He and his brother Israel Aber, Jr. had a double wedding ceremony. Morris Aber, another brother, served as a substitute for him during the Revolutionary War in the Morris County Militia.

Their children; Sarah "Sally" Aber (1786-1867), Sabrina Aber Coykendall (1788-1830), Milicent Aber (1792-1836), Mary Aber (1800-1873), Job Loree Aber (1801-1842) and Abner Aber, Jr. (1804-1864).
Abner Aber, Sr. died on December 13, 1803. His son Abner Aber, Jr. was born in 1804, a few months after Abner Aber, Sr. passed away.
