Shirley Ott, 73
God's faithful servant, Shirley Ruth Ott, 73, of Baltic, joined her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 5, 2009, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 27, 1936, in her parents' farmhouse on Bucks Township Road 93, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Burrier) Emig. A graduate of Baltic High School and Columbus Business University (formerly named Office Training School), she knew from the first time she touched a typewriter she wanted to be a secretary. Shirley worked as a clerk-typist in the Dean of Women's Office at The Ohio State University, at the Daily Reporter, and retired after 32 years as a secretary in Ragersville Elementary for Garaway Local Schools. Shirley was a wonderful, generous and devoted wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma who enjoyed spending countless hours on holidays, special occasions and reunions, cooking for her family and friends. One of her favorite pastimes was her music. She played accordion, guitar and piano and sang. She was in a band called Tri County Three, sang with Fiat's church choir, the homemaker chorus and performed at numerous family reunions. Shirley was a member of Fiat St. Peter's United Church of Christ, where she was the missions treasurer, had been a Sunday School teacher and held several other offices, was charter member of the Country Music Society of America, and retired member of Ohio Association of Public School Employees. Shirley and her husband were tour hosts for Educational Opportunities through which they took trips to the Holy Land, Austria, Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Ott, with whom she would have celebrated 28 years of marriage on Nov. 28. She is also survived by her devoted daughter, Laura Ladrach of Fresno; two sons, Larry (Chris) Ladrach of Dover and Spencer Ladrach and companion Karen McDaniels of Uhrichsville; two stepdaughters, Denise (Larry) Shetler of Baltic and Mary (Loren) Prysi of Dundee; one stepson, Doug (Deb) Ott of Baltic; grandchildren, Jonathan (Christine) Ladrach of Coshocton, Katie Ladrach of Akron, Cassie Ladrach of Pennsylvania, Blake, Olivia and Hannah Ladrach of Dover, Kelli Shetler of Stow and Tiffany Shetler of Baltic and Sydni Prysi of Dundee; great-grandchildren, Collin and Myleigh Ladrach of Coshocton; sisters, Nancy (Dan) Yoder of Sugarcreek and Carol (Larry) Smith of Fresno; aunts, Betty Eckert of Baltic, Gladys Burrier of Port Washington, Agnes (Bert) Varadi of Au Gres, Mich.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Emig, and a sister, Pauline Emig.
