Charles was born on Sunday, November 20, 1932, to George and Alice (Hays) Sweeney.
Charles attended Henryville High School, joined the United States Army, and served as a combat veteran during the Korean War in the 101st Airborne Division. After being honorably discharged from the military, he was an operating engineer and went on to own and operate, Sweeney Trucking. Charles was a member of Friends Church. He loved to talk all the time and never met a stranger.
Charles is survived by his 2 children Charlette Sweeney of Hawesville, KY, and Charles Sweeney Jr., 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way, and 2 siblings, Albert Sweeney Sr. and Martha (Jimmy) Guthrie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice (Hays) Sweeney, 1 infant son, Steven Sweeney, daughter, Robin Sweeney, siblings, Marie Heil, George Sweeney Jr., Myrtle Thomas, and Mildred Hancock.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory~Henryville, IN, with a graveside service immediately following at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
