Clara (Bond) Almand was the oldest child of Dr. William Parks Bond and his first wife Sarah Ann (Born). On 18 June 1877, Clara married Alexander James Almand, son of James Thomas and Cynthia Ann (Chafin) Almand. The couple had the following eight children: Sadie (Almand) Tucker, Lula Almand, Edgar Almand, John Parks Almand, Henry Grady Almand, Dr. Claude Alexander Almand., Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Bond Almand, and Dr. Joseph Morris Almand.
Clara died at age 53 in a private sanatarium, possibly of tuberculosis. Her funeral was held in Lithonia Methodist Church, a building that her son John Park Almand, a notable architect, had designed. She had been a faithful member there for many years.
