Heartie C. Burchess, age 90, of Langhorne, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Oxford Crossing.
Born and raised in Newfoundland, Canada, she came to the United States when she was 18 years old. Heartie met her future husband Ted at a family New Years party in 1954, and they married in 1955. Heartie was a homemaker and raised four children in Levittown. Once they were all school age, she returned to part time work at JC Penney in the payroll department, and also worked at Windrim's Dry Cleaning and Chong's Dry Cleaning.

Heartie was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and Queen of the Universe in Levittown.

She was a true homemaker. She loved to bake (especially Christmas cookies), she knitted and sewed and washed and hung clothes on the close line every single day! But her favorite job was being a mother and grandmother. She loved the time spent with her family, and treasured celebrating birthdays and holidays with everyone together.

Predeceased by her loving husband, Theodore (Ted) Burchess; her parents Hayward and Priscilla Brace; her sister, Matilda Dempsey, her brother, Fred Brace, and her brother-in-law, Richard Gerhart. Heartie is survived by children; Theodore P. Burchess, of Newtown, PA, Barb A. Watson and her husband, Ken, of Levittown, PA, Anthony Burchess and his wife Patty, of Coral Springs, Fla., and Kathy Grabowski of Doylestown.

She was the devoted and loving grandmother of Jessica (Ben), Justin, April, Kenny (Kate), Tyler (Becky), and Chloe; and the great-grandmother of Kendyl, Olivia, Brielle and Mia.

She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Elsie Higdon and Laura Tertel, her brother, Sidney Brace and his wife, Rachel, and her sisters-in-law, Jessie Brace and Rosemary Gerhart, her best friend/ "sister" Patsy Berner, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 5 pm until 8 pm, and Saturday, April 15, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 am at the funeral home, followed by interment at Newtown Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
