"Mrs. Bessie Bernice Funkhauser, 58, died Friday afternoon at a local hospital after a long illness.
She was a lifelong resident of St Joseph and made her home with a sister, Mrs. Alice Fetty, 2208 Doniphan Avenue.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Merritt of Kansas City; another sister, Mrs. Goldie Proffit of St Joseph; a brother, Fred Parrish of St Joseph; and two grandchildren." St Joseph News-Press, February 10, 1968
