Winnifred "Winnie" (Stephenson) Hein passed away on Sunday, May 5, 1985, in a Bonner Springs nursing home at the age of 92.

Winnie was born on August 15, 1893 in Basehor, Kansas, the daughter of Charles H. and Clara Mae (Strubelt) Stephenson.

Winnie lived in Basehor most of her life before she moved to a nursing home in Bonner Springs six years ago. She was an elementary school teacher at Basehor, a life long member of the Basehor United Methodist Church, and a charter member of it's Woman's Society of Christian Service. She was a member of the Rinda Chapter of the Order Of the Eastern Star, Tonganoxie, Kansas and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Her husband of 53 years, Frederick "Fred" August Hein, died in 1968; they were married on May 6, 1915 in Basehor, Kansas.

She is survived by a son, Robert William Hein, and a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth (Hein) Nance, both of Basehor; five grandchildren, Joyce (Nance) Woodcock, Charles F. Nance, Carolee Hein, Sandra (Hein) Smith, and Linda (Hein) Pemberton; and several great-grandchildren

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 1985 at 2 pm in the Basehor United Methodist Church, Basehor, Kansas with Rev. Frank Morgan officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Pemberton, Charles F. Nance, Gordon Verheaghe, Roger Smith, Eddie Williams, and Dwight Graham. Organist will be Barbara Kornhaus and vocalists will be Ruth Helen Runnels and Paul Runnels. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor.

Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 pm today at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, Kansas. The family suggests contributions to the Basehor United Methodist Church.

Winnie had a huge heart, always thinking of others. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
