Elma Raye Scott (Alma), 93, passed on Friday, March 30, 2018. She was born on June 21, 1924 in Fuquay Springs, NC to parents Thornwell and Mary Jane Cox. Relocating to Long Island, New York she married Wilfred Scott; they recently celebrated their 67th anniversary. In 1963 they were blessed with their only child, Lisa Annette.
Elma had the time and good fortune to be the community caregiver to any and all in need of assistance.
Elma was active in the Bethel AME Church and choir, Setauket, NY. The local American Legion Auxiliary Post 1766 was an organization dear to her heart. 2006 the family retired to southern Utah (Washington) Elma and Wilfred found a new church, Grace Baptist Church (Washington).
Needing more to fill her time she joined a group of women with similar interests and causes… her Red Hat Society ladies.
Good health gave her years of traveling with her niece, Betty, allowing her to check off many sites on her Bucket List.
Elma is succeeded in death by her parents, sisters' Ozell and Doris Jean, and her husband's seven siblings.
Elma is survived by her husband Wilfred, daughter Lisa (Kevin), a wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, her two brothers- in law Selah Scott (Evelyn), Sid Thompson, and sister-in- law, Mary Lewis.
A future memorial service will be held locally and on Long Island. Family funeral Services will be private, conducted by Serenity Funeral Home.
