Willie Ethel Boydstun

Mrs. Willie Ethel Boydstun, 89, of Natchitoches passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008, at her residence. Visitation will take place Tuesday, March 11 from 5-8 p.m. at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12 at 3 p.m. in Shultz Chapel at First Baptist Church of Natchitoches. Interment will follow in Memory Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Boydstun was born July 15, 1918, to the late Lonzo and Ethel Morris of Many. She was a graduate of Many High School. She received a BS in home economics from Northwestern State University and a MS in agricultural extension education from Louisiana State University. She joined the staff of the LSU Agricultural Extension Service in Natchitoches in 1955. She was well-known throughout Natchitoches Parish for her homemaking skills and abilities. She taught the art of homemaking to people in the area for many years as a home demonstration agent. She received the Distinguished Service Award from the La. Association of Extension Home Economists in 1976. She was a member of the Natchitoches Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches, Natchitoches Garden Club, Natchitoches Historic Foundation, Delta Gamma Phi, Epsilon Sigma Phi, the La. Retired Teachers Association, the Natchitoches Extension Home Economics Association and the La. Extension Home Economics Association. She was also an active member of First Baptist Church of Natchitoches until her health declined. She served on the Shultz Chapel building committee, the pastor search committee and the landscape committee. Mrs. Boydstun was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Boydstun of Natchitoches, and a brother, James P. Morris. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Masson and husband Clyde of Cloutierville; grandchildren Trey Masson and wife Angie, Patrick Masson and wife Tonya and Terri Masson, all of Cloutierville, and William Masson and wife Stephanie of Natchitoches; great-grandchildren Hunter, Emma, Sydney and Dayde Masson of Cloutierville; step-granddaughter Summer Grantham of Cloutierville; and a sister, Helen Rains of Many. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The family wants to thank Mrs. Boydstun's loyal and generous sitters, especially Faye Thompson, Alice Blake, Margaret Williams and Radeanna Washington, for their kind care.
