Alice P. Alcon, "Gramma Alice", our mother passed away peacefully at home April 1, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Alice was born April 6, 1927, in Cañon de Las Manuelitas, Sapello, NM to Manuel and Manuelita Padilla.
Alice was five years old when her mother passed away. Alice and her two younger siblings, José and Viviana Padilla, were raised by their father, Manuel Padilla and their two aunts, Cleotilde and Rita Padilla. At an early age she also took care of her siblings and grew up to be a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Alice will forever live in our hearts and be remembered for the caring and loving person that she was.
Alice married Levi Alcon on December 15, 1945, shortly after he got out of the service. They were blessed with five children, Idine Michalski (Nick), Jo Ann Alcon-Ortiz (Tommy), Eddy Alcon (Jeanette); Diane Medrano (Roland) and Levi Alcon Jr. (Yvette).
Alice and Levi celebrated 67 years of marriage before he passed away in 2013.
Alice was also preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Alcon, whom she loved like a son, her parents, her aunts who raised her, brother, José Padilla, sister, Viviana Sandoval, her step-brother and step-sister, Jerry and Elosia Padilla and many in-laws.
Alice had a big family that cherished her and she is survived by all five children, her 17 grandchildren, Travis & Bengie Regensberg (Patricia), Manuel Michalski, Nichole Collins (Paul), Erica Roybal, Rochelle Alcon, Roland, Sean (Letticia) and Jayvis (Brianna) Medrano, Audey (Carmen), Cody (Rae), Dakota (Mickah) Alcon, Dorothea (Patrick) Delgado, Naomi and Tamara Ortiz, Viola Garcia and Michael (Ray) Salcido, 36 great-grandchildren, Lincoln, LaVerne, Luc, Josh and Julian Regensberg, Kimberly Champ (DeOnte), Kathryn Davenport (Daniel), Savannah and Christian Michalski, Rebekah and Alannah Roybal, Carson Collins, Diego Ortiz, Bryan Alcon (Jolyn), Lucas Alcon (Mikeala), Maddox Alcon, Santianna, Santiago, Tatiana, Solis, Arayah and Milena Medrano, Dylan, Sierra, Ayden, Toby, Adam and Avery Alcon, Kaela, Patrick and Elyse Delgado, Mykela and Cruz García and Jada and Cruz Salcido and seven great-great-grandchildren, Braylyn Alcon, Baby Justin Richard Alcon and Anthony, Sofia and Mila, Mateo and Kade Alcon. Alice is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joycelyn Gonzáles (Ruben), brother-in-law. Eluid Alcon (Prebble) and Eloisa Alcon, a very special first cousin, Racheal García and niece, Darlin Zousel, many other nephews, nieces, cousins and others that called her Gramma Alice.
Alice was a faithful Christian and member of the Cleveland Church of Christ. Alice was a wonderful cook and always had her kitchen open for whoever walked in the door. A warm cup of coffee and a good meal no one could resist. Her red chile was the best as well as her touch with her chopped green chile.
Alice loved flowers and her plants were always beautiful, she enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, sewing, making ceramics and artwork. Alice's father was a carpenter, and she helped him built the house that she raised her family in until she took her last breath.
Most of all she loved having the family over on Sundays and holidays and cooking for them. There was not a Sunday that her house was not full of family and we always wondered how everyone ate a good meal and there were still leftovers.
Mom (Gramma Alice) will be deeply missed by all her family, she lived a good life, was a beautiful lady, and is now resting in peace. We thank our Dear Lord for giving her 95years of life. A special thank you to her youngest son, Levi Alcon Jr. and his wife, Yvette for the care and attention that they both gave to mom as she aged and became ill. Thank you to Amber Care for the great care you provided to our mother. Rest in Peace Mom, Gramma Alice. You will always be remembered as one of the strongest most loving and caring ladies of our family, the matriarch of our family.
