Mr. Crabtree was a native of Orange County, the son of Joseph Martin Crabtree and the late Beulah Scott Crabtree. His late son was Martin Lee Crabtree.
He was a resident of Durham for the past 37 years and a graduate of Elon College.
He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
He was employed with CCB as a Control Auditor for 25 years and Macon Savings Bank in Franklin for 10 years.
He was a member of Berry's Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Dollar Crabtree; a son, Herbert M. Crabtree of Durham, a brother, Buddy Crabtree of Cedar Grove; and three sisters, Alene Holloway, Peggy Holloway and Patsy Clayton, all of Cedar Grove.
