Son of the late Joseph Martin and Beulah Scott Crabtree, he was a retired farmer. He was a member of Five Forks Baptist Church where his funeral was held on February 27, 2014, with The Rev. Charles Churchill and The Rev. Tommy Clayton officiating. He was survived by his wife, Virginia Books Crabtree; three children, Gary Lee Crabtree (Cynthia), Denise Crabtree Strickland (David) and Renee Crabtree Parker (Randall); three sisters, Alene Holloway, Peggy Holloway (Wayne) and Patsy Clayton (Tammy); nine grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Irvin Crabtree.
