CHABERT, Annabelle Lee

Annabelle Bates Chabert, daughter of Jasper Lee and Adabelle Bates, died Sunday, April 2. She is survived by her two daughters, Joan Foreman and Her husband Bill, and Susan Ogle and her husband Tommy, as well as two grandsons, Thomas Lawrence Ogle III (Trey), his wife Elizabeth, and Andrew Chabert Ogle (Drew), and his wife Rebecca; four great grandchildren: Bailey, Thomas IV, Julia, and Anne Wright Ogle. Annabelle was married to Francis Philip Chabert in 1951 until his death in 1975.

Annabelle was born in Birmingham, graduated from Woodlawn High School, and throughout her life continued her education in the food management industry in several nursing homes in the Birmingham area. Later she worked for Resource Homes. While raising her children, she was always involved in their activities, serving multiple times as President of the PTA, overseeing school carnivals, and teaching Sunday school. She thoroughly enjoyed her two grandsons, picking them up to go "paint the town red".

Annabelle was an active member of Riverchase Church of Christ and was a light to all who knew her. She was an incredible lady of strength who stood in her faith and was a true encourager to others. She had a positive energy that drew others to her, even into her 90's.

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 10:00am-11:00am at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, Alabama 35211 with a funeral service to follow at 11:00am. Burial will follow immediately in Elmwood Cemetery. Pastor Dewayne Spivey will be officiating.
