Hugh S. Mackall, 81

East Liverpool - Hugh S. Mackall, 81, of Orchard Grove Avenue died at 3:17 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at East
Liverpool City Hospital. Born in Hookstown, Pa., April 20, 1924, son of the late James Ralph Mackall and Jennie Mae
Allison Mackall, he was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. A lifelong resident of the area, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Having retired from the former McIntosh-Hemphill, he previously had worked at Crucible Steel. Earlier, he drove an East Liverpool City Bus. A member of VFW Post 6450 of Chester, he also held membership in American Legion Post 374 and enjoyed fishing. His wife, C. Jane Dallas Mackall, whom he married Jan. 27, 1946, died July 26, 2002. A brother, Charles Mackall, also preceded him in death. Three daughters, Mrs. Denny (Pamela) Smith of Hammondsville, Debbie J. Mackall at home, and Mrs. David (Laura) Phillips of New Cumberland, and two sons, Richey D. Mackall of Columbus and Stanton J. Mackall and his wife, Arlene, of East Liverpool, survive. A brother, Ralph Mackall and his wife, Jean, of East Liverpool, also survive. There are four grandchildren, Jason D. Smith and his wife, Shelly, of Salem, Mrs. Don (Joanne M.) Snyder of Cuyahoga Falls, Emilee Jane Phillips and Danielle Marie Phillips, both of New Cumberland. Four great-grandchildren, Jason D. Smith Jr., Kaden T. Smith, D.J. Snyder and Owen Snyder, also survive. Friends may call Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Rev. Dr. H. Gene Toot will conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mill Creek Cemetery, where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.
