Second son of Benjamin and Mary Child of Roxbury. Born in Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.

Husband of Grace Morris Child whom he married March 4 1683. She was the daughter of Deacon Edward Morris and his wife Grace Bett. The marriage date is according to the Massachusetts Marriages and New England Marriages Prior to 1700 databases.

His second marriage was to Mary Warren.

His father, Benjamin Child II died Oct 14 1678. He had contributed money to erect the first church of Roxbury and had immigrated from Great Britain. He was the nephew of Ephraim, and came to this country, it is thought, with his uncle. He became the head of the large number of families of that name on this side of the Atlantic

On the day Benjamin died he was 65 years old, and Ætatis suæ (i.e., Æ, "Aged," in the XX year of his Age) 66. He and brothers Ephraim and Joshua were bapt. together of record at Roxbury Feb. 27, 1658/9, whereas Benjamin's gravestone indicates he was b. AFTER Jan. 24, 1657/8.
