Ivan P. Anderson Sr.

PARKERSBURG - Ivan Paul "Pete/Andy" Anderson Sr., 93, of Lakeview Estates, Parkersburg, died Dec. 30, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Wood County, the only surviving child of the late Isaiah Pete Anderson and the late Sarah Ella Spencer Anderson.

He was a Deacon of the Parkersburg First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ.

After retiring in 1974 from Borg Warner's Woodmar Plant (formerly Marbon and now GE Plastics), he sold real estate with his late wife, Leatha Nettles Anderson.

He graduated from Williamstown High School in 1928 and attended Marshall College (now University).

He was a movie projectionist at the Virginia, Hiehle and Burwell Theaters until he joined the Catalytic Construction Co. in 1955 to help build Marbon. He was among the first three persons hired locally in 1957 to operate the plant, where he supervised the storeroom.

He is survived by a son, Morgan Lee "Andy" Anderson of Keedysville, Md.; a daughter-in-law, Ellen Christine Marshall Anderson; a nephew, Rodney G. Oyler and wife, Peggy; a niece, Sandra Oyler Schmidt; a dear friend, Pauline Small, all of Parkersburg; and nieces and nephews elsewhere.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Ivan Paul Anderson Jr.; two infant children; a half-sister, Iola Daisy Anderson Smith; and a half-brother, Harley Everett Anderson.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. today and beginning 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home, 403 Avery St., Parkersburg. Burial will follow immediately at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg.
