Jack was born June 30, 1931 in Jedburg, SC to his loving parents Charles and Florence Hutson.
Jack, also known as "Captain Jack" because of his life-long love of boats and fishing, began working on the water at a young age. This love eventually landed him a job working the barges and tugboats off the beautiful coast of Charleston. Although this was his favorite job, he later began a career at the Naval Weapons Station of Charleston where he eventually retired in 1993 with 20 years of service. He and his wife spent the better part of his retirement traveling and sightseeing the United States.
Throughout his life, Jack was passionate about fishing and camping and never missed the opportunity to snag a camper at a good deal. Though he enjoyed the outdoors, he would never miss an episode of his favorite daily soap operas. Being a mechanic most of his life, he also loved working on cars or tinkering in his garage.
Jack and his wife, Mary Frances Hutson, started dating in 1959 and were married on November 2, 1961. They began building a home and family together and were married 61 years. They lived at their home in North Charleston for 48 years where they raised four children, many grand-children, and great grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife Mary Frances Hutson of N. Charleston, son Jack Hutson Jr. (Marie) of Moncks Corner, daughter Susie Richardson (Lee) of Huger, and daughter Melissa Hunnicutt (Mike) of Pelzer, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, son Jimmy Rogers of Moncks Corner, sister Barbara Hudson of Ladson, and brothers James Hutson of N. Charleston and Charles Hutson of North Carolina.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM on March 19, 2023 at Carolina Memorial Park, Funerals & Cremations located at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. 843-797-2222.
