It is generally held that Reuben Gage was the child of David Aaron Gage and Esther Shipman Gage.
Reuben left New York, appearing in Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky and several other states including Texas. He received a League of land in Bastrop County, Texas, from the Mexican Government, as part of the colonization of Texas circa 1835. He moved (back) to Arkansas, appearing in the 1840 Census, along with several of his children in Arkansas. Upon his death his wife Abigail Burleson Gage returned to Texas to live with their son Moses Gage for the remainder of her life.
