John William Cruikshank, Colonel, United States Army, was the third born son of seven and the sixth born child of eleven known children of Dr. Luther (1831 born at Blue Hill, Maine-1900 died at South Omaha, Nebraska) and Clara F. Culbertson (Feb. 20, 1835 born at Troy, Ohio-July 18, 1911 died at Fremont, Nebraska).
He married Jeannette D. Davidson and they had five known children:

2. John Culbertson Abbott (1904-1945)
3. Meyer B. Abbott (1907-1915)
4. Elizabeth Abbott (1908 -
