NINA FERN MILLESON, 1922-2023, was born November 10, 1922, to Glen and Ola (Tiffey) Coe. She sadly passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023, in Stanton, IA. On May 9, 1942, Nina Fern Coe married Lloyd Maxwell Milleson in Maryville, MO. To their union, they had two children: Connis and Scott. They were able to spend 60 years together before his passing on March 4, 2001.
Fern worked various places throughout her working career. She worked at the MHI, Taylor Pharmacy, Iowa Light and Power, and for 13 years, Lloyd and Fern owned and operated the local Sears store. Fern enjoyed many things in life, cooking, reading, and making ceramics. She even did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels, the hospital, and the church. She had many friends she helped during those times, and a special thanks to Nancy and Gary Wyckoff.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, parents Glen and Ola Coe, father and mother-in-law Pearl and Marie Milleson, granddaughter Melissa Kuehn-McGowan, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, along with nieces and nephews and many friends. Fern is survived by her children, Connis (Jim) Smith, Scott (Janice) Milleson; grandchildren, Jenny Thackray, Zachary (Carly) Milleson; great-grandchildren, Zoe Thackray, Gage Thackray, Declan Milleson, Harper Milleson along with other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held for Fern at Walker-Merrick-Billings Funeral Chapel at 2pm, Friday, March 10, 2023, with visitation from noon to 2pm, interment took place at the Clarinda Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorial donations can be made to the Clarinda United Methodist Church in Ferns name. Walker-Merrick-Billings Funeral Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
