Funeral services for Paul Eldon Poor will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Taylorville Christian Church with Rev. Tim Ramsey church pastor, officiating and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call in Sutton Memorial Home from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., where Masonic Rites will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. The body will be taken to the church at 1:00 p.m. Monday to lie in state until the service hour.
Mr. Poor 73, died at 10:45 a.m. Friday February 12, 1982 in St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. He was born in Taylorville, Illinois on February 23, 1908, the son of William and Ada Oyler Poor. He first married Mary Virginia Lusk and they divorced. On November 11, 1960, he married June Bare in Taylorville. A member of the Taylorville Christian Church, he was retired from Freeman Coal Company of Farmersville. He was also a retired barber and a former councilman for the city for several years. He was a member of Mound Lodge 122 AF&AM and he helped to initiate the Cub Scout program in this city.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ginger) Wurl of Mt. Auburn, Illinois and Mrs. David (Lee Ann) Nation Sr of Taylorville; four step-sons, John Dennis Fishel of Seaside, California, Michel Fishel of Springfield, Thomas Fishel of Taylorville and Floyd Short of Taylorville. Two step-daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Linda) Paisley of Taylorville and Mrs. Marlowe (Judy) Schegel of Chantilly, Virginia; a brother William Leroy Poor of Decatur; three sisters, Mrs. Othur Wood of Pana, Mrs. Ernest Natterman of Taylorville and Mrs. Mary Jones of Urbana and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, two brothers and one sister and grandson Alex Richard Wurl.
