Was Pioneer in Community, Mother of Nine Children
Born and Married in Scotland

After a lingering illness for several months, Mrs. Flowanna McAllister, wife of James McAllister, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jennie Solf, in Carman on Tuesday, October 7, 1918.

Mrs. McAllister was one of the pioneering women of this part of Oklahoma, and the mother of nine children, seven of whom with her husband, mourn her departure.

She was born in Scotland. There on December 31, 1865, was married to James McAllister. A few years later they immigrated to America.

Early in life she was converted and lived a consecrated Christian life. She was an honored member of the Carmen Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

The seven surviving children are; Mrs. James Tweeddale of Trinidad, Colo.; Mrs. Margaret Angster of Ideal, Colo.; James McAllister, Jr. of Soiling; Mrs. Flowanna Halverson of Carmen; Mrs. Jennie Solf of Carmen; David G. McAllister of Soiling; Charles H. McAllister of Soiling. Besides these, she leaves a sorrowful husband, grandchildren, and hosts of friends. She was beloved by all who knew her.

Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church Wednesday morning by Rev. C. W. Haskins of Stillwater and the body was laid to rest in the Carmen Cemetry.
