On Monday, March 13, 2023, Reinholt "Bud" Herman, a loving husband and father of three, passed away at the age of 88.
Bud was born on Oct. 18,1934, in Eau Claire, to Reinholt and Lydia (Deckert) Herman, where he attended and graduated from high school. He also completed an apprenticeship program in tool and die. Bud worked in this field for his entire career, retiring out of Bendix. During that time, he worked a 20-acre farm with his wife, Mary. Bud also served in the National Guard of the United States in the early 1960's.
Bud's passion for motorcycles was ever apparent as he always had a Harley. He even made a chopper in the late '60s, entering it in shows and winning several competitions. Bud also always had a convertible and was often seen riding one of the local beauties in parades in the back of his 1966 Mustang convertible. He loved Polka dancing and had stories about crashing weddings as a young man just to dance with all the single gals attending. Bud loved to fish the local lakes and was always ready to throw a line in the water.
After 59 years of marriage, Bud died less than 24 hours after the passing of his wife, Mary. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy.
Surviving is his daughter, Sherry Slavoff; two step-sons: Peter and Mark Maniscalco; sisters, Dianna and Frieda; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bud lived a good and long life and while he will be missed, his spirit and stories will live on.
Services honoring him will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 24, at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma where the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Coloma. Donations in memory of Bud may be given to Salem Lutheran Church.
