Alvin Leroy Dennis, son of Arthur Wilbur and Ruth Mae Lowry Dennis, was born June 10, 1925, in Vanzant, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, October 1, 2004, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, three months, and twenty-one days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lesa Wise; and two brothers, Billy Mac and Roland Gene.

Alvin is survived by five sons, Robert Leroy, Steven Ray, Herbert Allen, Jack Allen, and Daniel Eugene; four daughters, Linda Lou, Lola Mae, Ola Fae, and Odean Mae; eighteen grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; three brothers, Argus Wilbur, Earl Monroe, and Chalmer Lee; five sisters, Iva Lenora, Versal Elizabeth, Evelyn Anna, Bernice Irene, and Velma Juanita; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He was born and raised in the Vanzant, Missouri area, and then moved with his family to California when he was sixteen years old. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy. He returned to the Mansfield community around 1975. Throughout most of his life he was a minister of the gospel.

Alvin accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and preached the word for a long time.

He was a member of the Wright County Mounted Patrol, and greatly enjoyed his involvement in that organization.
Alvin will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2004, in the Mansfield Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.
