Mrs. Frances B. Maines, 79, of Lancaster, formerly of Woodland, died in St. Joseph's Hospital at Lancaster Sunday at 8:35 p.m.
Born at Karthaus Dec. 20, 1889, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Lucy (Hugar) Briel.
Mrs. Maines was the widow of Ward L. Maines, who died Aug. 7, 1948. She had served as postmistress at Woodland from 1933 to 1954 and had taught school at Frenchville from 1908 to 1911.
She is survived by her children: Mrs. Lucille M. Moody, Collegeville; Mrs. Jeanne Carroll, Lancaster; and W.L. Michael Maines, Media; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters and brother: Miss Ida C. Briel. Karthaus; Mrs. Maude G. Maines, Philadelphia; Mrs. Jean Smith and George S. Maines, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Fred B. Leavy Funeral Home at Clearfield with the Rev. Robert Rambo officiating.
Interment will be in Crowncrest Memorial Park.
