Loammi Goodnow Baldwin was born in Wayland, MA. He moved to Illinois in the 1800s and married Julia Ann Swaggard in Elizabeth, Jo Daviess, Illinois on 22 Jul 1851. Shortly after their marriage the Baldwins joined Julia Ann's aunt, Elvira Whiteside Marshall and the Marshall children, in a wagon train to California. On their way at the Platte River, Loammi became a father when Julia Ann gave birth to their daughter, Nebraska Baldwin (1852-1906). They settled in Rough and Ready, Nevada County, California where Julia Ann died 11 Sep 1856. Loammi left his daughter in the care of Elvira and moved to Cosumnes where he met and married Julia Ann Jackson. They were married in 1858 and moved to Stockton. They had 5 children and remained in Stockton until his death.
