Dr. O.D. Foss, who practiced veterinary medicine in Christine for more than 45 years, was born on a farm two miles south of Christine on Oct. 12, 1884, the son of Gustav and Carrie Foss. Dr. Foss, who taught school for several years, obtained his degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas City Veterinary College, Kansas City Mo, in 1912.

Dr. Foss and the former Minnie Erickson of the Aural church community near Fergus Falls were married in 1911 and had six children: Elizabeth( Brady) , James, Dorothy, ( Mrs. E.H. Cort) Ruth (Quinnild), Peggy ( Mrs. R.B. Jensen) and Alan.

In 1958 the Saddle and Sirloin Club of NDSU honored Dr. Foss, a past president of the North Dakota Veterinary Association , as North Dakota Agricultural Man of the Year and hung his portrait in the Hall of Fame at the N.D. State University.

Dr. Foss died in 1965 and Mrs. Foss in 1967. from pg. 29 of " A Centennial History of the City of Christine and Eagle Township , Between Two Rivers, 1883- 1983."
